Complex East African mancala-family game. National game of ZANZIBAR + TANZANIA. Uses 4 rows × 8 pits (32 pits total) + 64 seeds. Considered ONE OF DEEPEST MANCALA GAMES — vastly more complex than Oware. Two forms: BAO LA KISWAHILI (competitive, deep strategy) + BAO LA KUJIFUNZA ('learning bao', simplified). Long tradition Swahili coast + Great Lakes.

Ancient African + Middle Eastern family of 'sowing' or 'counting' board games — players scoop seeds/stones from cups and 'sow' them one-by-one around the board, trying to capture opponent's pieces; oldest known board game family (~5000 years).
