What is Beach Tennis?
Beach tennis was born in Ravenna, Italy in 1978. It is played doubles on a beach volleyball-sized sand court over a tennis-height net with solid soft-perimeter foam paddles and a depressurised tennis ball. The ball is never allowed to bounce — every shot is volley, spike or lob. The ITF sanctions a full professional tour with world championships each year.
