What is Bungee Jumping?

Bungee jumping is the sport of leaping from a tall structure — a bridge, crane or purpose-built platform — while attached to a long elastic cord. The cord decelerates and rebounds the jumper just short of impact. The first commercial site opened at Kawarau Gorge, New Zealand in 1988 and the sport is now global adventure tourism.
