Elden Ring is an open-world action-RPG developed by FromSoftware and released in 2022, directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki (Dark Souls) with a world and lore co-written by George R.R. Martin (A Song of Ice and Fire). It expanded the demanding 'Souls-like' formula into a vast open Lands Between of six main regions and countless dungeons and legacy castles. Over 25 million copies sold; Game of the Year 2022 at essentially every awards show.
