Enduro

Officially Enduro Motorcycle Racing

OFF-ROAD MOTORCYCLE racing on LONG CROSS-COUNTRY courses (usually 100-300 km per day, multi-day). Riders traverse forest trails, mud, rock, water crossings, log climbs — with TIMED SPECIAL STAGES (short intense tests) inside longer transit sections. Governed by FIM; WORLD ENDURO CHAMPIONSHIP (EnduroGP, formerly WEC) since 1990. ISDE (International Six Days Enduro) is the sport's flagship — since 1913 (oldest motorsport event still running).

How it works

Objective

Complete all transit sections WITHIN ALLOWED TIME (no penalties) + record FASTEST TIMES on SPECIAL TESTS.

Rules

Basic rules

  • MIX OF TRANSIT (untimed, minimum-time) + SPECIAL STAGES (timed, race-pace)

    Signature 2-part format.

  • TRANSIT sections have SET SCHEDULE — arriving LATE or EARLY at time controls = penalty seconds/minutes

    Signature time-control penalties.

  • SPECIAL STAGES include: CROSS TEST (fast open terrain), ENDURO TEST (tight technical), EXTREME TEST (obstacles), plus SUPER TEST (short spectator-friendly)

    Signature 3-4 special-test types.

  • SELF-SUFFICIENCY: rider MUST perform own maintenance in parc-fermé — refueling + tire changes done by rider (limited time)

    Signature self-maintenance rules.

  • ISDE: 6 CONSECUTIVE DAYS; final MOTOCROSS RACE on day 6

    Signature 6-day format.

  • PENALTIES for missed time controls, missed markers, help from mechanics (outside allowed pit)

    Standard penalties.

  • CLASSES: E1 (up to 250cc 4-stroke or 150cc 2-stroke), E2 (250-450cc 4-stroke), E3 (450+ cc); Junior, Women's, Youth

    Signature engine classes.

Scoring

Cumulative time = sum of special-test times + transit penalties; lowest total wins.

Win condition · Lowest cumulative time over all stages/days.
