What is Hydrofoiling?

Hydrofoiling refers to the family of watersports where a board rides ABOVE the water surface on an underwater hydrofoil (wing-shaped fin ~50-90cm below board). At speed, the foil generates lift + raises the board out of water — the board hovers ~0.3-0.7m above water surface, drastically reducing drag + enabling ultra-smooth glide over choppy water. Variants: KITE FOIL (kite-powered, Olympic debut Paris 2024), WING FOIL (handheld inflatable wing, fastest-growing variant), SURF FOIL (surf-driven, ocean waves), WAKE FOIL (boat-towed), PROne FOIL (paddle-powered).
