The DN ice yacht — designed at a 1937 boat-building competition run by the Detroit News — is the world's most raced ice yachting class. The 3.7 m single-hander glides on steel runners at more than 100 km/h in a good breeze. The DN World Championship rotates between the US Midwest, Poland, the Netherlands and Sweden depending on the year's ice.
