Formally organized 1910s AUSTRALIA (Surf Life Saving Australia founded 1907). Contested at ILS WORLD LIFE SAVING CHAMPIONSHIPS (biennial since 1971). Two divisions: OCEAN (surf-based) + POOL (indoor); events include IRONMAN/IRONWOMAN (multi-discipline), Beach Sprint, Surf Race, Board Race, Ski Race, Rescue Tube Rescue, Line Throw, Manikin Carry with Fins.

  • OCEAN EVENTS: SURF RACE (400m ocean swim + wade), BOARD RACE (paddle out + around buoys), SKI RACE (surf ski), IRONMAN/IRONWOMAN (multi-discipline chain: swim → board → ski → beach sprint), TAPLIN RELAY (team version)

  • BEACH EVENTS: BEACH SPRINT (90m sand sprint), BEACH RELAY, BEACH FLAGS (elimination flag-grab from prone start)

  • POOL EVENTS: 100M MANIKIN CARRY WITH FINS, 50M MANIKIN CARRY, LINE THROW (rescue 20m rope to 'victim'), OBSTACLE SWIM (under-water submerged panels)

  • SUPER LIFESAVER: pool multi-discipline chain (200m obstacle swim + manikin carry + line throw + sprint)
