Lucha Canaria

Lucha canaria is the ancient traditional wrestling of the Canary Islands' Guanche people. Two 12-a-side teams meet in a circular sand ring ("terrero"); wrestlers take turns for individual bouts, aiming to force any part of the opponent (except the soles of the feet) onto the sand. It is one of the oldest continuously practised wrestling styles in Europe.
