What is Nordic Combined?
Nordic combined pairs ski jumping and cross-country skiing into one Olympic contest. Athletes take a single jump off the large hill; jump distances convert to time deficits behind the leader (Gundersen method), and the cross-country pursuit race then decides the medals. Norway has dominated the sport's history since its Holmenkollen origins in 1892.
