Outrigger Canoeing

Outrigger canoe racing is a Polynesian paddling sport contested in canoes with a stabilising side float (the ama). Common formats are OC1 (solo) through OC6 (six paddlers). Iconic events include the Molokaʻi Hoe channel crossing between Molokaʻi and Oʻahu — a 66 km open-ocean race — and the Hawaiki Nui Va'a in Tahiti.
