Quoridor

Quoridor is a modern abstract strategy game published in 1997. Each turn a player either moves their pawn one square or places one of their limited supply of walls to block opponents' paths — but no wall can completely seal off any player. The first pawn to reach the opposite side wins. Its simple mechanics and deep planning have earned it Games Magazine's Game of the Year and Mensa Select awards.
