Sagol Kangjei

Sagol kangjei is the ancient traditional polo of Manipur, played by the Meitei people. Seven-a-side teams mount the small hardy Manipuri pony (which stands under 13 hands) and use short wooden mallets to strike the ball into the opposing team's goal. British officers stationed in Manipur in the 1850s adopted the sport and codified it into modern international polo.
