Shinty

Shinty (Camanachd in Scottish Gaelic) is Scotland's traditional stick-and-ball sport, closely related to Irish hurling. Twelve-a-side teams use a curved caman stick to strike a small hard ball into the opposing goal. Unlike hurling, the ball can be played in the air with either side of the stick. The Camanachd Cup, first contested in 1896, is the sport's premier trophy.
