Sikaran

Officially Sikaran (Tagalog: 'to kick')

Indigenous Philippine foot-fighting martial art from BARANGAY BARAS in RIZAL PROVINCE — traced to 15th-century farmers who developed KICK-ONLY combat as sport during rice-harvest downtime. Uses ~90% kicks + minimal hand strikes; distinct from later Filipino kickboxing (Yaw-Yan). Recognised 1971 as Philippine national foot-fighting art; Sikaran national demonstrations at Palarong Pambansa.
