What is Ski Mountaineering?
Ski mountaineering ("skimo") is a mountain race sport in which competitors climb on skis fitted with adhesive skins, transition, and race the descent through set gates. Modern racing includes sprint, vertical, individual and team formats. The ISMF governs the sport; skimo makes its Olympic debut at Milano-Cortina 2026 in three events.
