What is Para Ice Hockey?

Para ice hockey (also sled or sledge hockey) is ice hockey played on twin-bladed sledges by athletes with lower-body impairment. Players use two short sticks — the ends spiked to push off the ice, the blades to pass and shoot the puck. Six-a-side teams play three 15-minute periods. It has been a Paralympic sport since Lillehammer 1994.
