What is Tai Chi?

Tai chi (taijiquan) is a Chinese internal martial art founded in the 17th century Chen village of Henan. Alongside its enormous global following as a slow health art, competitive tai chi is contested in two disciplines: taolu (judged solo forms) and tuishou ("push-hands", a paired sensitivity contest where competitors uproot each other without striking).
