WESTERN RIDING team sport — TEAM OF 3 RIDERS separates 3 SPECIFIC CATTLE (matching numbered ID from herd of 30) and pens them in an ARENA PEN within a TIME LIMIT (usually 60-90 SECONDS). Fastest team wins. Combines cowherd skill + speed + team communication. Popularized by USTPA (United States Team Penning Association) since 1993; annual USTPA World Finals in Fort Worth, TX. Growing internationally (Canada, Australia, Europe).

How it works
Objective
Cut 3 specific numbered cattle from a herd of 30 + drive them into the pen — FASTEST TIME WINS.
Rules
Basic rules
HERD of 30 cattle wear NUMBERED BACK-STICKERS (0-9, three of each number)
Signature 30-cow numbered herd.
AT START, announcer CALLS 1 RANDOM NUMBER (0-9) — team must pen the 3 cattle wearing that number
Signature random number call.
TIME LIMIT: usually 60 sec (open class) to 90 sec (novice)
Signature 60-90 sec limit.
PEN = 3-SIDED enclosure; cattle must be inside + at least 1 rider must have called 'TIME!' to STOP CLOCK
Signature 'time' call to stop clock.
TRASH CATTLE: if any UNCALLED cattle CROSSES CENTER-LINE into the pen area with wrong number = DISQUALIFICATION
Signature no-trash rule.
SCORING: TIME-BASED; if 3 cattle penned successfully in less than time limit, LOWEST TIME wins
Signature time-only scoring.
NO ROPING; NO CATTLE DRIVEN OUT OF ARENA
