Sprint at pole planted in canal water, climb it as it tilts, launch as far as possible onto sand pit on opposite bank. Signature: HYBRID OF POLE VAULT + LONG JUMP. Emerged from farmers crossing DUTCH POLDER CANALS. Modern records exceed 22 METERS. Governed by DUTCH FIERLJEP FEDERATION; annual DUTCH CHAMPIONSHIPS + FRISIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS.
